Sunny Thomas Obituary

Sunny Poulson Thomas passed away on July 16, 2020, Pahrump, Nevada.  She was born in California to Harold T. and Helen Poulson.

Sunny Poulson Thomas was kind, considerate, loving dedicated, and compassionate.  Born Anita Ruth Poulson, on September 10, 1940, she was always known as Sunny because she was always smiling as a baby.  Her childhood days were spent in Lodi, Clements, and Orange, California.  On the farm in Clements, she was a member of the 4H Club, and raised several animals for her 4H projects.  She loved animals throughout her life.

Sunny took ballet lessons as a child which helped her land song leader on her high school team. She had many wonderful friends and maintained those friendships throughout her life.  She was also very popular and was involved in many high school activities.

After attending Santa Ana College, she went to work at Allstate Insurance Company, and worked her way up the corporate ladder in the personnel department.  She was a natural leader and many people looked up to her.  After retiring from Allstate, she dabbled in real estate, and also worked for a non-profit organization named Canine Support Group, and was on the board of directors.  They trained support dogs and found homes for them.  Sunny helped many people over the years, and will be greatly missed.

Additional Accomplishments:

Associates of Art - Santa Ana College and was a licensed realtor.

Founding member and former Executive Director of Temecula Valley International Film Council

Nominee for Citizen of the Year by Murrieta Chamber of Commerce.

Sunny is survived by her husband, David Lee Thomas, her children Linda J. Thomas, Melva L Thomas (Jeffery Davis), Steven G. Thomas (Carlotta Thomas), Randy L. Thomas, and Michael B. Thomas, her granddaughter, Breanna Thomas, her sister Janet Sturtz, her brother Randall J. Poulson, and sister in law Lilly Poulson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kristianna N. Thomas, her siblings, Roger W. Poulson and his wife Linda, Michael G. Poulson, and brother in law Hans Sturtz.
