Horst Guenther Fleischmann passed away on September 1, 2020, in Pahrump, Nevada. He was born on February 13, 1937, in Blecken, East Prussia, to August and Martha Fleischmann.
He had eight siblings: Herbert, Gerhardt, Erna, Herta, Lisa, Ola, Troute, and Crystal (who died in infancy).
Horst grew up in Ratzeburg, West Germany after his family had to leave East Prussia during World War II. After graduating high school, he trained as a butcher. In 1959, at the age of 22, Horst immigrated to the United States.
Settling in Dallas, Oregon, he worked as a Stone Mason. He taught himself how to read and write in English. He married Judith Thurston in 1964, and they were married for 56 years.
In 1968, his son Michael was born. And in 1972, his daughter Crystal was born.
In 2009, Horst became a happy "Opa" (grandpa in German) when his grandson Richard was born.
Horst's favorite hobbies were gardening and fishing. Horst was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family.
